Destination Thailand Visa (DTV): authority-specific guide
Official Thai overseas-post material describes DTV as a five-year multiple-entry visa with permission of up to 180 days per entry for the published workcation, Thai soft-power/activity and eligible dependent purposes. An extension is a separate Immigration decision; contact Immigration for the current route and do not treat an overseas post's extension wording as a guarantee.
Supporting-document change effective 31 August 2026
Thai overseas posts announce that, from 31 August 2026, DTV supporting evidence includes proof of permanent residence in place of the former document indicating current location, plus a certificate of criminal-record clearance. The selected Tel Aviv notice states that applications paid before 31 August 2026 continue under the previous requirements. Check the responsible post’s own transition notice for the application concerned.
The responsible embassy or consulate still controls jurisdiction and the acceptable document, issuing country or authority, issue date, validity period, translation or legalisation, dependent treatment and any further evidence. Check that post’s current instructions and the official Thai e-Visa application record before submitting. Do not send residence or police-clearance records through the TES general enquiry form.
Start with the responsible authority
- Identify the responsible Thai embassy or consulate. Use your current location, residence and that post's published jurisdiction rules; do not choose a post only because another checklist appears easier.
- Identify the DTV purpose you will actually evidence. Use the purpose categories and evidence wording published by that responsible post.
- Check the live application record. Compare the responsible post's current page with the official Thai e-Visa service before uploading or paying. A checklist from another post is an example, not your application rule.
- Separate later decisions. Visa issuance, admission, permission to stay, an extension, permission to perform work, tax treatment and professional licensing are separate questions handled by the responsible authorities for the actual facts.

Costs: keep the categories separate
The government application charge is set and collected through the responsible official route. Translation, notarization, document delivery and any optional independent professional or provider support are separate third-party costs. Obtain the official charge and any third-party quote in writing before paying. Apply while outside Thailand through the official Thai e-Visa service and follow the checklist, fee, jurisdiction and timing issued by the responsible embassy or consulate. Posts reviewed for this audit differ in document format, financial evidence, passport validity, translation and lead-time instructions. Do not reuse another post's checklist.

DTV does not itself answer whether a particular activity for a Thai or foreign client or employer is lawful work in Thailand. Visa approval does not guarantee admission, and TDAC remains separately required for each entry under the rule effective 1 May 2025.
