Thailand ATM Fees & Withdrawal Limits for Foreign Cards

Some identified Thai bank tariffs publish a foreign-card ATM operator fee. Check the fee and limit shown by the exact machine before confirming; the card issuer or network may add separate charges or impose a lower limit. No fee or withdrawal-limit number is presented as current because an exact rollout-day tariff row and effective date were not established for every example.

What controls the transaction

Basic Thai-bank cards and cross-province machine fees

Under BOT standards effective 1 September 2026, institutions that offer ATM or debit cards to natural-person customers must make a basic option generally available. The combined joining and annual fee is capped at THB 150 per year for a basic ATM card and THB 200 per year for a basic debit card. Replacement-card fees are outside these caps. A branchless or virtual bank may offer a digital-only basic card if this is disclosed in advance.

The same standards prohibit cross-province and line fees for covered deposit, withdrawal and transfer transactions at electronic machines, including ATM, CDM and CRM machines. This does not abolish every charge: a foreign-card ATM operator fee, the card issuer's fee, network or currency-conversion cost, replacement-card fee and other permitted service costs are separate. Confirm the exact product, customer class, machine and displayed charge before proceeding.

CheckControlling information
Thai ATM operator feeThe fee shown by the exact machine before confirmation and the operator's current tariff
Available withdrawal amountThe machine, card network and issuer controls, available balance, fraud checks and notes stocked
Issuer chargeThe card issuer's current international-cash and foreign-exchange terms
Currency conversionThe displayed ATM conversion offer or the card network/issuer conversion when withdrawing in THB

Where the displayed operator fee is per withdrawal, fewer withdrawals reduce that fee, but safety and issuer limits also matter. Do not carry more cash than is reasonable merely to reduce fees.

Before you press confirm

  1. Identify the ATM owner and use a location you consider appropriate.
  2. Check the card issuer's withdrawal, fee, currency-conversion and security terms.
  3. Read the machine's displayed fee, amount and currency choice before confirming.
  4. Do not treat a displayed conversion as the only available outcome without understanding the choice.
  5. Shield credentials, reject assistance from strangers and keep the receipt where useful.
  6. Know the ATM owner and card issuer's official lost-card, retained-card and fraud contact routes.

The page publishes no universal ATM fee, withdrawal limit, exchange-rate result or recovery promise. The exact screen and the operator and issuer's current terms control the transaction.

Before travel, check the issuer's international ATM and FX charges, daily and transaction limits, card controls, emergency replacement process and support route. For a larger payment, compare a documented account transfer with carrying cash.

For broader context, use the banking hub, account-opening workflow, international transfer guide and everyday payment guide.

If the card is retained or the transaction looks wrong

  • Stay near the machine if safe.
  • Record the ATM owner, machine identifier, location, time, displayed message, amount and receipt or transaction reference.
  • Use the contact shown on verified bank signage or the bank's official site or app, not an unofficial sticker or a number supplied by a stranger.
  • Freeze or control the card through the issuer's official channel and contact the issuer.
  • Never disclose a PIN, password or authentication code to someone offering help.
