Personal Accident Insurance Information in Thailand

How to check a personal-accident policy schedule, covered events, benefit definitions, exclusions and claim instructions.

Personal-accident policies pay only for events and outcomes defined in the issued contract and schedule. They are not interchangeable with health, life, motor, employer or travel cover.

Check the exact policy

  • Identify who is insured, the covered period and territory.
  • Read the definitions of accident, injury, disability and covered loss.
  • Check each benefit in the issued schedule rather than relying on generic percentages or market examples.
  • Check exclusions and conditions for occupation, driving, motorcycles, alcohol, sports, travel and other activities.
  • Confirm medical-expense, death, disability and income-related benefits separately where offered.
  • Check beneficiary details, evidence requirements, notice instructions and time limits in the issued wording.

Do not assume a police report, medical report or particular notice deadline always applies. Follow the insurer’s instructions for the actual incident and obtain requirements in writing.

If an incident occurs

Seek appropriate emergency help first. Preserve available incident and medical records, notify the insurer through its official channel as soon as reasonably possible, and ask which documents and authorisations the exact policy requires. A claim remains subject to the contract and the insurer’s assessment.

Provider and complaint checks

Verify an insurer or intermediary through the OIC broker and licence service. Licence status does not certify suitability or a claim outcome. The OIC publishes a consumer complaint route and hotline 1186.
